Why do you need a Realtor? Look no further than listing #120424 in the Beaufort Multiple Listing Service. It is a homesite on Dataw Island, one of the premier country club communities in South Carolina. The homesite is listed for $10,000. It sounds like an incredible opportunity.
We received an inquiry about this property the other day. Dataw Island, for those of you living outside of the Lowcountry, was developed in the 1980s by Alcoa, which did a great job with the planning and construction of this community, built around two Pete Dye golf courses. Dataw is just a few minutes east of historic Beaufort, SC, and has one of the best marinas in South Carolina.
So what's not to like about a $10,000 in a piece of property in a nice golf community? Well, not necessarily anything. But there are things you absolutely, positively need to be aware of when you proceed at Dataw Island. There are mandatory club memberships to consider.
And when you go to sell your property, you are selling your membership as well. You can't just walk away.
In addition, there are some very steep monthly dues associated with club memberships. There are annual POA fees.
This is not a knock on Dataw Island. Many communities in and around the Lowcountry make club membership mandatory, and many memberships are expensive.
We just want you to have all the information going into your purchase. You are not just buying the land, or a home.
If you have any questions about Dataw Island, the Beaufort, SC real estate market, or Beaufort in general, please don't hesitate to let us know.
