Fripp Island is a true original. Located 18 miles due east of Historic Downtown Beaufort, SC, Fripp Island has more than three miles of beachfront, and is Beaufort's top spot for those seeking a primary or vacation home in an oceanfront community.
Once on Fripp Island, you are never far from the beach. Every neighborhood on the island is just a few minutes drive via golf cart to beach access. Golf carts and bicycles are the preferred modes of transportation on Fripp Island. If you would like to be able to walk to the beach from your home, there is always a nice selection of available homes which will put you within a very short walk to the beach.
In addition to single-family homes, Fripp Island presents a large number of opportunities for those seeking a low-maintenance condominium home. The most centrally located of these condos are the Captain John Fripp Villas, the Beach Club Villas, and the Tennis Villas, all of which place owners and guests just a few steps from Fripp Island beaches. These condos offer easy walking access to restraurants, several pools, and tennis facilities.
The most affordable condo option is the Sunsuite development, also located at the center of the island. These former hotel suites are small, but are as convenient to the Atlantic Ocean as any home on Fripp.
The villages of North Hampton, Newhaven and Sanddown are located on the northern end of the island, and also offer pool facilities and easybeach access to residents
Fripp Island offers endless amenities for both permanent and part-time residents. Golf carts, mopeds, boats, and bicycles are available for rental. Camp Fripp is the perfect destination for children ages 3 to 12. The beach, of course, is the best amenity of all.
Golf enthusiasts will want book tee times at both the oceanfront Ocean Point golf course, and the Ocean Creek course, a David Love III-designed course which overlooks the marshes and creeks of Fripp Island.
Fripp also features a terrific marina, with a boat launch and dry storage facilities. The Bonita Boathouse, located at the marina, overlooks Old House Creek, and provides easy access to local waterways.
Membership to the Fripp Island Club, which involves a one-time inititiation fee, affords access to island restaurants, pools and many other amenities.
Access to Fripp Island is guarded around the clock by island security.
