Golf Community Options, Beaufort County Style!!!

Beaufort County has some wonderful country club communities available for those looking for a home on or near the greens and fairways of South Carolina.

For those looking for a well-groomed, country club lifestyle, both Dataw Island and Callawassie Island are worthy of consideration.  Dataw is located just minutes east of downtown Beaufort, on St. Helena Island. There are currently  120 homes on the market on Dataw, with asking prices ranging from $159,000 up to $2.4 million.  In addition to two beautiful Pete Dye golf courses, Dataw Island features some of the best waterfront property available in Beaufort.

Callawassie Island features 27 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and sits between Beaufort and Hilton Head. There are currently 16 homes on the market, ranging in price from $255,000 to $845,000.

There are also some pricier golf course community options, such as Spring Island, which sits adjacent to Callawassie Island, and Brays Island, located west of Beaufort near Interstate 95. Both of these very private communities feature multi-million homes on homesites designed for ultimate privacy.

Before purchasing in a country club community, we always recommend you conduct thorough due diligence, especially if there is an equity membership involved. Every community has its own policies regarding associated fees, some of which are paid at the closing table, and some of which are paid after closing.

In many golf communities, there are golf membership options, along with social membership options. There are dues which apply to improved property (with a home on it), and dues which apply to unimproved property. There are generally trail fees, green fees and annual fees. There could be a temporary assessment in place. Dataw Island recently had such an assessment.
