Battery Point is a Must See for Buyers in Beaufort, SC

Battery Point is one of the terrific neighborhoods in Beaufort, SC. Developed in the mid-1990s, Battery Point is one of the "neo-traditional" neighborhoods which flourished in Beaufort during this time period. Newpoint, Habersham, and Broad Street are other examples of this type of development, which captures the cultural rhythm and architectural style of early 20th Century coastal towns like Beaufort and Charleston.

battery_point_beaufort_scBattery Point is a well-thought out community. Mail pickup is located at centralized locations, to encourage interaction among residents, and Battery Point front porch allows residents to visit each other from their own property.

I noted to the homeowner that foreclosures and short sales have impacted Battery Point, as they have just about every other neighborhood in Beaufort.

There are currently 25 homes on the market in Battery Point, ranging in price from $201,500, up to $675,000 for a waterfront home.  There have been 12 homes sold in Battery Point so far this year, with a median sales price of $252,000. There are also six homesites available, from $45,000 for an interior site, to $549,000 for a deep-water lot with "limited" access.

"Limited access" means that the property sits on deep-water (minimum of three feet of water at low tide), but there may be a sandbar or other impediment which limits "round the clock" access to the area's main waterways.

Battery Point sites on Battery Creek, and features some of the best community amenities you are likely to find anywhere. There is a community boat dock and boat ramp, which comes in handy during the spring and summer, when throngs of boaters crowd Beaufort's public boat ramps.  For the fitness-minded, there is a tennis court, walking trails, and a picturesque neighborhood pool located amidst a copse of stately oak trees.

Battery Point is an easy drive to the shops and restaurants of downtown Beaufort, and some residents regularly make the trip downtown via their bicycles.
