While a nine percent decline in your local real estate market might seem like bad news, in South Carolina, you are the best. The 9.2% drop in Beaufort homes sales was the lowest of any South Carolina real estate market. Homes sales in Beaufort seemed like a dream come true compared to the Orangeburg, SC market, which fell an amazing 34%. If you have ever been to Orangeburg, that's certainly no surprise. Sorry Orangeburgonians. As far as the South Carolina real estate market goes, SC homes sales fell a whopping 24% compared to 2007. This is great news for us Beaufort SC real estate agents, home sellers, and anyone else involved in the world of real estate.
There are certain factors that always seem to keep Beaufort above average when it come to home sales in South Carolina. The high military turn over seems to keep homes moving off the shelves. Also, we live in a great town. Beaufort is a great place to live, and even with a down economy, people keep moving here.
With home prices continuing to slowly fall, it is only a matter of time before the turn around occurs. Given, it will be a very slow turn around. If you have read my blogs in the past, you know I feel homes are still over priced in the Beaufort area. My opinion is slowly changing as home prices are "slowly" looking better and better to me.
PS I wanted to thank everyone who has visited my site in the past couple months. The authority on web traffic, Alexa, now ranks this site as the top trafficked real estate website in Beaufort SC. I have worked my bottom off on this and still have a bunch to do. Thanks for looking and if you ever see anything you want added or improved, PLEASE let me know. You are my first priority and if you ask, it will happen.
Take care, Todd Covington
